Apple’s new MacBook Pros might become cheaper next year

Apple’s new MacBook Pros might become cheaper next year

Just last week, Apple unveiled its refreshed MacBook Pro laptops for 2016. The lineup’s pricing and underwhelming changes left us unimpressed. But if you absolutely must have a new MacBook Pro, you might want to wait until the second half of 2017.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at Taiwan-based KGI Securities and kinda-sorta like the evleaks of all things Apple, the company’s laptops tend to drop in price shortly after a new generation is launched; he notes that by the second half of 2017, the latest MacBook Pros should be a bit more affordable.

Kuo also notes that there’s also a chance that the lineup will eventually support 32GB RAM by then, but this will depend on whether Intel releases its Cannonlake processors in time for that mid-2017 refresh. those chips are designed to consume less power and thus allow the system to transmit that juice to additional RAM.

It’ll be interesting to see if those changes actually happen, and if they are enough to drum up interest in Apple’s new laptops.
