Apple has picked up yet another award for its design and advertising, this time winning two awards at the prestigious D&AD (British Design & Art Direction) Awards in the UK, and in a rare moment of unity flew its entire design team (including Jony Ive) to pick them up.
The Evening Standard reports that Apple was named the most awarded brand and the best design studio of the last 50 years, with the design team descending on Battersea Park in London to join Ive (who recently received his knighthood) on stage to collect the studio award.
It’s a rare moment for Apple, which usually shuns public appearances. According to the Evening Standard, 16 members of the team attended in total — 14 men and 2 women — who were flown over from California specifically to attend the ceremony.
Ive also received a standing ovation when he went on stage to pick up the award for Most Awarded Brand:

The D&AD celebrated its 50th anniversary, awarding brands with yellow and black pencils across a number of different categories. The fact that Apple sent its design team demonstrates the gravity of the awards, especially given that it is iPhone 5 launch week.
