Apple has struck a partnership with China Union Pay to bring Apple Pay to China. According to a press release from Apple, customers will be able to add their cards to Apple Pay sometime next year.

The press release only noted Apple Pay would hit China in 2016, as “relevant tests and certification required by Chinese regulators” needed to be met. Apple says the service itself is compliant with all Chinese mobile payment requirements.

Apple Pay will work with China Union Pay’s Quickpass, and use the same tokenization technology for keeping user info safe.

This is the latest big market for Apple Pay. After launching in the United States, the mobile payment solution hit the UK, then Canada.
