Apple has always strived to impress with its stores and physical locations, but the company has absolutely outdone itself with its newly introduced “community” space in Dubai, dubbed the Apple Dubai Mall.

The breathtaking building, which stands 186 feet tall, opened yesterday and will soon become home to the new ‘Today at Apple’ global in-store experience, seeking to turn the company’s retail space into a “community to gather, learn and be entertained.”

But what is perhaps the most scenic aspect of the new building is its slick motorized “solar wings” that have been designed to “respond to the ever-changing environmental conditions.”

Developed by high-tech architecture firm Foster + Partners, the solar wings were fabricated from 340 carbon fiber reinforced polymer rods.

“We view our stores as a modern-day town square, where visitors come to shop, be inspired, learn or connect with others in their community,” said the company’s Senior VP of retail Angela Ahrendts, adding the company feels “honored to have a home at one of the world’s most incredible and dynamic intersections.”

The Dubai Mall maintains the signature Apple architecture style aimed at emphasizing open and transparent spaces, “blurring the barriers between inside and out […] and the boundaries between the store and the community.”

Here are some more photos of the building:

While the Apple Dubai Mall is already welcoming visitors, the new global in-store experience is expected to launch in the Mall and 495 other Apple locations early next month.
