At its WWDC event today, Apple announced a new Flipboard-like reader app for iOS, simply called News. It uses machine learning algorithms to help present articles it think you might be interested in.
The app also includes a new publishing format, including dynamic editorial layouts, image mosaics and typography that moves as you scroll through articles. Apple also says it keeps your data private, never sharing it with third parties.
News is rolling out to the US, UK and Australia to start. It replaces Newsstand as iOS’ primary article aggregator.
