Anthropic tells investors Q3 revenue reached $16.8bn, FT reports

The AI company also said it was profitable on an adjusted basis, ahead of an IPO planned for November.

On October 14, Anthropic told potential investors that its third-quarter 2026 revenue reached $16.8 billion. The company also reported an adjusted profit for that period.

Moreover, the company shared these figures at an investor event held at its San Francisco headquarters, just weeks before its planned stock market debut.

The Financial Times first reported the numbers, and soon after, a Reuters report citing two attendees and a Bloomberg story citing people familiar with the matter gave the same revenue figure.

Anthropic has not published the results, and it declined to comment to Bloomberg.

The $16.8bn covers revenue earned in the quarter itself, so it differs from the annualised run rates often quoted for AI companies.

According to Reuters, revenue was about $11.6bn in the second quarter and $4.7bn in the first, which puts the latest rise at about 45%.

That second-quarter number is close to the earlier figure of more than $11.5bn in revenue that Anthropic shared with investors in August.

At the time, the company also said its adjusted operating income was positive.

None of the reports say which costs the adjusted measure leaves out, and no profit figure was given. However, Anthropic also told investors it was cash-flow positive in the quarter, the FT reported.

The latest results follow a loss-making 2025, as last year, Anthropic’s revenue rose to nearly $4.6bn, while its operating loss topped $8bn. That loss figure excludes write-downs of liabilities linked mostly to earlier fundraising.

Chief executive Dario Amodei and chief financial officer Krishna Rao both met investors at the event, according to Reuters.

Those who went left upbeat about growth and the path to profit, the news agency reported.

Meanwhile, the listing’s timing has shifted more than once. Anthropic had been expected to list in October, before the midterms.

Bloomberg now reports that formal marketing could start as early as the week of November 9, with trading to begin before Thanksgiving on November 26.

Bloomberg added that the plans remain fluid and the dates could change. Some prospective investors put a fair valuation for Anthropic at between $1.8tn and $2tn, the outlet reported, and the deal could match SpaceX’s record listing in size.
