AngelsBootcamp aims to train up 1,000 new European angel investors by 2015

AngelsBootcamp aims to train up 1,000 new European angel investors by 2015

How do you bring more angel investors into the European startup community? If you’re Alex Farcet, co-founder of the StartupBootcamp accelerator, you launch a two-day ‘bootcamp’ to train them up.

AngelsBootcamp is targeted at executives, entrepreneurs and finance professionals who have money in the bank to put into tech startups but who lack the knowledge about exactly what an angel investor should do. The aim is to train up 1,000 new angel investors by 2015.

The first AngelsBootcamp takes place in Berlin on 7-8 June. Topics like due diligence, valuation and investment strategy will be covered, and attendees will hear from experienced angels including Passion Capital’s Stefan Glaenzer, early-stage investor Hussein Kanji, and Brigitte Baumann, President of the Board of EBAN, the European Trade Association for Business Angels.

In a world crying out for angel investors, it can be easy for those wealthy enough to get involved to simply sink $50,000 into the first company that comes along and get burned, or to simply hold back, unsure of the best first move to make.

It remains to be seen how effective AngelsBootcamp will be, but the first event has some good people involved. We’ll watch with interest – especially as Farcet and his team will have to really go some to train 1,000 angels in under two years. That said, it’s an admirable goal for sure.

If you have the cash available to start angel investing, you can apply now.
