HERE for Android hits Google Play, iOS version coming ‘early 2015’

HERE for Android hits Google Play, iOS version coming ‘early 2015’

HERE, the free Android app for voice-guided navigation, is now available worldwide on the Google Play Store.

The app, still in beta on Google Play, helps you find shops, restaurants and other interesting local places and share your location privately with friends.

The app lets you search, navigate or get directions — whether or not you have an Internet connection. Just save the interactive maps to your phone or tablet and they will work offline, regardless of your location.

The app currently covers 118 countries, including voice navigation for 18 new countries and territories in whole or part including Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Cyprus, Iraq, Libya, Mauritania, Mauritius, Nepal, Paraguay, Saint Helena, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

There are also improvements to the app’s performance and stability. With Google Play your phone will signal an update  for the app — no need to uninstall and reinstall downloaded maps or voices.

A version for iOS is planned for early next year.
