BuzzFeed news intends to fight a pending lawsuit with the White House by proving the infamous “pee tape” exists.

According to a report in Foreign Policy, the website has hired a crack team of investigators led by none other than former White House cybersecurity official Anthony Ferrante, the same man who once oversaw the investigation into possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign after the 2016 election.

Ferrante left the White House in April 2017 to work with FTI consulting. He’s now tasked with verifying the legitimacy of the dossier compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele, and the allegations of

The pee tape, in case you’ve been hiding under a rock, is part of a blockbuster story by BuzzFeed News. The story describes the dossier as follows:

The dossier, which is a collection of memos written over a period of months, includes specific, unverified, and potentially unverifiable allegations of contact between Trump aides and Russian operatives, and graphic claims of sexual acts documented by the Russians. BuzzFeed News reporters in the US and Europe have been investigating various alleged facts in the dossier but have not verified or falsified them.

The outlet, perhaps to its own detriment, published the leaked document in its entirety, leading Trump to file suit claiming the 35 page document defamed him. Trump, since its release, has denied the accuracy of its contents.

If true, the memo would prove Russian meddling in the 2016 election, with Vladimir Putin himself overseeing the entire operation. Explosive in its very nature, perhaps no part of the memo was met with as much enthusiasm as the purported pee tape.

According to the dossier:

3. However, there were other aspects to TRUMP’S engagement with Russian authorities. One of which had borne fruit for them was to exploit TRUMP’S personal obsessions and sexual perversion in order to obtain suitable “kompromat” (compromising material) on him. According to Source D, where s/he had been present, TRUMP’S (perverted) conduct in Moscow included hiring the presidential suite of the Ritz Carlton Hotel, where he knew President and Mrs. OBAMA (whom he hated) had stayed on one of their official trips to Russia, and defiling the bed where they had slept by employing a number of prostitutes to perform a ‘golden showers’ (urination) shows in front of him. The hotel was known to be under [Russian Federal Security Service] control with microphones and concealed cameras in all the main rooms to record anything they wanted to.

Trump denies he participated in any such sex acts while in Russia.

And now, BuzzFeed news aims to prove the dossier — pee tape and all — as legitimate in order to defend itself in the Trump suit. “If it’s fact, it’s not libel, that’s the idea,” one source told Foreign Policy.
