Amazon Publishing launches Jet City Comics to push into comics and graphic novels

Amazon Publishing today announced it would launch Jet City Comics, a new imprint designed to fuel its comic and graphic novel publishing aspirations.

Jet City is being launched with new comics from George R.R. Martin, Hugh Howey, and Neal Stephenson beginning with ‘Symposium #1’ today.

“It’s a dream to work with superstar authors like George, Hugh and Neal on the launch of a new imprint,” Alex Carr, Senior Editor of Jet City Comics said. “Millions of fans have read and loved their novels, and with Jet City we look forward to opening up these iconic worlds to new audiences. We’re working with an incredible, hand-picked team of comics professionals, writers, artists, and translators, who have done an amazing job developing and expanding these inventive stories.”

Following its first outing, Jet City will be publishing a number of comics throughout the rest of the year including an adaptation of ‘Meathouse Man’ (a single issue in digital format due in October 2013) illustrated by Raya Golden, a prequel set in the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ fantasy series – the inspiration for the HBO hit ‘Game of Thrones’ – due early next year and a re-release of ‘The Hedge Knight’ in print and digital format due in November this year.

Other comics will include an adaptation of Hugh Howey’s best selling dystopian novel ‘Wool’ as a six comics on Kindle Serial in October this year, to be followed by a print edition in 2014.
