Amazon Prime 1-hour delivery service is now live in Manhattan

Amazon Prime 1-hour delivery service is now live in Manhattan

Amazon first introduced one-hour delivery for a small area of Manhattan in December. Now the company is expanding the service to the entire island.

Running the zip-code checker on Amazon’s Prime Now page, service is available in all Manhattan zip codes – it was initially only available in the 10001 area. Manhattan covers 41 zip codes.

Though the website says 1-hour delivery is available in “most” Manhattan zip codes (with the oh-so-slow two-hour delivery available elsewhere), Mashable has received confirmation from Amazon it should cover the entire island. Of course, you still need to be an Amazon Prime member to take advantage of the feature.

As before, the super-fast shipping only covers essential items like paper towels, shampoo and batteries, but wider adoption is still welcome. One-hour delivery is the holy grail of online shopping, so we’ll keep an eye out if Amazon chooses to bring the service to other cities.

Update: We received a statement from Amazon and have pasted it below:

Prime Now is available in all of Manhattan. We have been steadily adding zip codes since we launched in December, which you can view that launch press release here. Manhattan customers love Prime Now and we are excited to expand soon to other boroughs. Stay tuned.
