Hot on the heels of Amazon revealing two new Echo speakers, the company has also announced that Alexa will be able to talk to your Nest soon.
Later this month, Nest’s first official collaboration with Amazon will be available so you can say “Alexa, tell the thermostat I’m too hot” or “Alexa, I’m leaving” and it’ll take care of the temperature for you.
Alexa’s Skills can also be used to learn new phrases over time, so you can ask questions about the temperature or humidity as well as controlling the thermostat.
Echo seems like Amazon’s trojan horse into controlling the smart home — it’s a much better solution than what Google and Apple themselves are offering, since it’s always waiting for you to just say a command out loud.
