After launching grocery delivery services in the US and more recently in India, Amazon is now bringing daily staples to users in the UK with AmazonFresh.
The service will first become available to Amazon Prime members in 69 zip codes across north and east London. You can also try Fresh for 30 days at no extra charge. After that, it’ll cost you £14.98 per month for Prime & Fresh, or £6.99 for only the grocery delivery service.
Once you’ve signed up, all your orders over £40 will be delivered for free; orders below that amount will cost an additional £3.99. You can choose a one-hour time slot during which you’ll be home to receive your stuff, between 7am and 11pm every day of the week.
On offer are more than 130,000 items, including packaged goods, fresh ingredients like meat and seafood from local suppliers, as well as artisanal products like cheese, chocolate, wine and coffee.
The arrival of Amazon’s new service for the UK comes after the ecommerce giant’s deal in February with British supermarket chain Morrisons.
AmazonFresh vice president Ajay Kavan told Reuters, “We are launching with a comprehensive offer in a limited area and will take our time to hone and improve our service,” and added that the company “will be very methodical and considered in how we roll this service out further in the UK.”
