A very different startup conference: Capital On Stage sees investors do the pitching

A very different startup conference: Capital On Stage sees investors do the pitching

Conferences which allow startups and potential investors to get together are a common occurrence. However, a very different kind of startup conference is set to take place in Amsterdam next month.

Instead of startups pitching to investors, the roles will be reversed. Capital On Stage will see investors presenting themselves to the entrepreneurs.

Investors from across Europe and Israel will be in attendance, ranging from seed round angels to VCs and private equity. On stage, the investors will explain their views on the market, their added value, and what they’re looking for in their next investment. In the morning, startup founders will be able to book short meetings with the different investors during an ‘open office hours’ session.

This is an invite-only event – startups are being selected through various sources, including accelerators like the UK-based Springboard. Only founders are welcome – no employees. Aside from the investors, there won’t be any one else present and there will be limited media coverage of the event, although The Next Web will be in attendance.

In all, 20 investors and 200 startup founders will be at the event. We hear audience is set to be largely European, although we’re told that some US-based startups have been invited as well.

Capital On Stage takes place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on 14 September 2011. If you’re a startup founder you can apply to be considered to attend by filling in this form.
