5 reasons to attend Social Media World Forum Europe in London

Now entering its 4th year, the Social Media World Forum Europe (SMWF) conference in London is a 2-day networking, education and discussion extravaganza, focusing on the latest social media tools, technologies, platforms, and emerging trends within marketing.

Taking place from 27-28 March at the Olympia, Hammersmith, this year’s SMWF looks to build on the phenomenal success of the 2011 event, which saw over 4,000 people turn up. It’s now one of the leading events in its field, hosting a variety of free-to-attend workshops & conferences for marketers, PR professionals, brands, agencies and SMEs.

The Next Web has teamed up with the good people at SMWF to offer our readers a 15% discount on tickets, but first here’s five reasons we think you should attend this year.

1. Variety: Interact, uncover, explore, discover

SMWF offers two days of  engaging content spread across six different tracks, which combine to give visitors a rounded insight into social media marketing.

The key areas covered are social media, social TV, social shopping, marketing tech, social business and mobile marketing…check the agenda out for yourself.

2. The people

An event such as this is nothing without quality speakers. And SMWF has some of the top industry names in attendance, including (but by no means limited to):

  • Bruce Daisley, UK Sales Director, Twitter
  • Allister Frost, Head of Digital Marketing Strategy, Microsoft
  • Joshua Graff, Director, Marketing Solutions EMEA, LinkedIn
  • Lauren Gerstner, Global Manager, Social Media Strategy & Communications, Nokia Care at Nokia
  • Debbie Weinstein, Senior Director, Global Media Innovation, Unilever

There are also speakers from Foursquare, Lego, IBM, BBC, Expedia and many, many more.

3. Networking

Events such as this aren’t all about sitting back and absorbing content. As we’ve noted already, SMWF saw 4,000 people arrive through its doors last year, with at least the same number expected to show up in 2012.

This provides you with a very good opportunity to network with people from all areas of the social media sphere. Be sure to take lots of business cards with you…

4. Free stuff…

There’s a free-to-attend Marketing Tech Toolbox, which gives you many of the basic tools to begin planning and implementing your own integrated marketing strategy. It ties in advice and insight around social media, SEO, branding, affiliate marketing, mobile, PR, blogging, content marketing, Web-design and all kinds of integrated marketing communications techniques.

The free exhibition has 60+ exhibitors who will be creating an arena of buzz, from service & tool providers from across the sectors.

5. The TNW discount…
