5 great ways to work better using Facebook

5 great ways to work better using Facebook

When you think of Facebook the first thing that doesn’t come to mind is work. However as the line between work and social becomes blurred here is a list of 5 ways you can work better using Facebook.

Number One: Docs is from Microsoft’s Future Social Experiences (FUSE) Labs and this app allows Facebook users to discover, create & share Microsoft Office documents. It has an inbuilt spell check and the ability to share documents with Groups. They also just rolled out a handy full search text feature.

Number Two: Telephone allows you to call, send and receive voice messages through Facebook. It’s just like having voicemail on your phone. All you need is the application and a microphone.

Number Three: SlideShare is the world’s largest community for sharing presentations. You can upload your own PowerPoint, OpenOffice, Keynote or PDF files and view presentations shared by others.

Number FourDigsby by dotSyntax helps you manage all your existing IM, email, and social network accounts from one easy to use application. Merge your Facebook Chat, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, and Jabber buddy lists into one. Receive notifications when new emails arrive and a preview of your Inbox. Best of all, get notifications and a newsfeed for Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and LinkedIn on your desktop.

Number Five: Email Signup powered by the law firm JD Supra allows you to offer email sign-ups in Facebook. It does this by allowing visitors to your Facebook page to opt in to receive your monthly newsletters. It is an email opt-in app and installs as a tab on FB pages.

Runners up:

Free Conference Calls is great for taking business meetings on the go. With free conference calls you can call in from anywhere; your home, mobile, Skype, or any VoIP service.

The Calendar app from 30Boxes is a complete personal calendar solution. It includes SMS reminders and a built-in to-do list function and gives you the ability to share upcoming events on you Facebook profile.

Business Cards is like the signature common in email messages. Personalize your card and attach it to your Facebook messages. When the temperamental service is working you can also use it to promote your business and browse other cards.

Facebook Groups is not an external application like the others however the relaunched Groups is a great hub to collaborate and work on projects. Its ability to chat in groups, share images, send emails and host discussions is excellent.
