Samsung unveils new video teaser as the next part of its ‘Next Galaxy’ countdown

Samsung has today unveiled the latest part of its ‘Next Galaxy’ countdown on its smartphone teaser site, launching a new video that simply says that the new device will help owners stand out from everyone else.

Unfortunately for Galaxy S III fans wanting to know more, the video doesn’t really provide much in the way of details. Interest in the launch was so high that the Samsung’s The Next Galaxy website crashed and visitors were unable to see the resulting page as the countdown hit zero.

However, if you managed to visit the site, you would be met with the following message:

Join Samsung Mobile at Unpacked 2012, where the dawn of the next GALAXY will soon be revealed before the world. Don’t want to miss out on this momentous event? Register today to ensure that you’ll be there to witness it all, live and direct from London.

It all started this weekend, when the company launched a new teaser site with a countdown that allowed visitors to “take the next step” on Monday afternoon. Samsung first posted a cryptic message to its SamsungMobile Twitter account containing the word ‘tgeltaayehxnx’, which turned out to be an anagram of ‘Next Galaxy’.

Last week, Vietnamese site Tinhte leaked a hands-on video showcasing what could be a test unit for the new Galaxy S III. The overview detailed a Samsung device that bears the model number GT-I9300, which has long been associated with the company’s next flagship.

The device was said to sport a 4.6-inch display with a 720 x 1184 pixel resolution (which at 320 PPI is almost exactly that of the iPhone 4/4S), a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor, 1GB RAM and an 8-megapixel camera.

It will run Ice Cream Sandwich, provide 16GB of internal storage, ship with a 2050 mAh battery and provide NFC support. The device is rumoured to be the official Olympic phone — as the Games are sponsored by both Samsung and Visa and the two companies announced a partnership in April last year — so the embedding of NFC technology comes as no surprise.

Samsung has already sent out the invites for the London-based event on May 3, we will of course be there and bring you the latest news as it happens.
