As with any new version of Android, owners of existing devices have been wondering if they’ll be getting a taste of Google’s sweet, sweet Ice Cream Sandwich. If you own a recent Sony Ericsson Xperia device, you’re in luck.
In an announcement today, Sony Ericsson has revealed that its entire portfolio of 2011 Xperia handsets will be upgraded to the latest version of Android. This means that the Xperia Arc and Arc S, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo and Neo V, Xperia Mini and Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active, Xperia Ray, and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will all get a pice of the action.
Details of the timing and global availability of the upgrades haven’t been announced yet, with the firm promising further information “in due course.”
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich adds a new-look UI; a perhaps-not-completely-secure Face Unlock feature; support for sharing information between devices via NFC (on supported handsets); image editing features; an upgraded camera app and much more.
Pssst, hey you!
