At its Build developer conference in Seattle today, Microsoft unveiled a handy new plugin for its PowerPoint presentation app that allows for instant translation of your slide deck.

The Presentation Translator plugin, which you can add to PowerPoint’s desktop app, leverages Microsoft’s Translation APIs to translate content into 10 languages in real-time, while preserving the formatting you’ve set for your material.

That includes Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. In addition to translating your slides, the plugin can also help generate captions for people who suffer from hearing impediments.

That’s huge for the 100 million Office 365 users that Microsoft claims to have signed up. The plugin was borne out of a Microsoft Garage project, and is currently available in early access on Windows. If you’d like to try it out right now, you can register now on this page.
