It’s no secret that Instagram copied Snapchat’s Stories to massive success. Now Instagram is making the format even more prominent by allowing third parties to share directly to your Story.
Facebook announced at its F8 conference that developers can enable the ability to share screenshots of their apps to your Instagram and Facebook Stories. Say you want to share what you’re listening to music on Spotify – you’ll be able to tap the share button and load it into to the Facebook camera. From there you can edit the image before posting to your Story or News Feed.

It’s a small update, but Stories is becoming an increasingly prominent part of how people interact on social media, so it makes sense to let users share more about their lives through the medium. In fact Stories have become so prominent it sometimes seems like people use the Instagram feed less and less – for better or for worse.
The company also made it clear that you don’t need to connect your Facebook account to an app to enable sharing to Stories. Probably a good thing, considering recent news.
