Earlier this year at Mobile World Congress, we saw the first signs of life from the BlackBerry smartphone brand with the BlackBerry KeyOne. This enticing handset pairs BlackBerry’s iconic physical keyboard with the latest-and-greatest Android operating system, and a solid, no-nonsense list of specifications. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it does looks like an incredible phone.
If you’re leaning towards getting one, you’ll be pleased to know that you won’t have to wait long.
In the UK, where the BlackBerry brand still caries some weight (if not just for reasons of nostalgia), the KeyOne will be available from May 5 at £499 at the Carphone Warehouse. Pre-orders are already open. If you can’t wait that long, you can pick one up today from luxury department store, Selfridges.
Sadly, Canadian punters will have to wait a little longer. Despite being the ancestral home of BlackBerry, the device will launch there later in May. Pre-orders open on May 18, with the KeyOne $199 on a two-year contract with Bell, Bell MTS, Rogers, SaskTel, and TELUS Business.
Its US launch will take place on May 31, where you can pick up a KeyOne unlocked for $549. According to TCL, which manufactures the KeyOne, the keyboard-clad mobile will be available on Sprint later this summer.
