Google Drive for iOS update takes aim at your photo library

Google Drive for iOS has been updated, and it wants to back up your photos.

You can now use Drive as an extension for the share sheet in iOS. Those of you invested in Google Drive can now back up your Photos library with ease.

Ahead of this update, Drive users had to upload from within the Drive app. Backing your photos up to Drive is still a manual process, but a much easier one.

If you’re shy about having your pics show up in Google Photos, don’t worry — the share sheet only backs files up to Drive. Oddly enough, Google Photos was also uploaded today to support animated photo sharing to Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.
