A drone carrying drugs crashes near the US-Mexico border

A drone carrying more than six pounds of methamphetamine crashed on Tuesday in a supermarket parking lot in Tijuana, Mexico, reports the AP.

Local authorities, who announced their finding yesterday, said that the drone had fallen near the San Ysidro crossing at Mexico’s border with California. Police are still trying to find the origin of the drone and its operator.

Tijuana police said that it wasn’t the first time they had encountered drones being used to smuggle drugs between the US and Mexico. The DEA reported about 150 drug-laden drone flights across the border in 2012.
