Homejoy, a platform for arranging a cleaner to visit to your house or apartment, has today announced an expansion into a range of other home services, putting it into direct competition with the likes of Handy and TaskRabbit.
The new services include carpet cleaning, air conditioning installation or repair, moving and storage services, furniture assembly, painting and more. From today, these new services are available in San Francisco and San Jose, but the company said they would be available in major markets in the months to come.
“Quality is our number one priority. We spent six months perfecting home cleaning in just San Francisco before we were confident. Once we were happy with the experience, we launched 30 markets in 30 weeks,” Homejoy’s COO Xiao Wei Chen told TNW. “We’re taking the same approach for carpet cleaning, handyman, and additional home services. Once we’re confident we’re delivering the perfect customer experience, we’ll take these services to all 30 of our markets and beyond.”
These services have all been in beta testing via the platform since July, alongside plumbing, landscaping, electrical work and pest control. Window cleaning, plumbing and electrical, however, will remain in beta for a little while longer before being rolled out more widely.
The expansion of services follows making significant inroads into Europe in 2014; it has launched in London, Berlin, Munich and Paris, alongside operating in a total of 29 markets in the US. Hamburg, apparently, is next on the European hit list.
