Two weeks ago, photo sharing service Twitpic announced plans to shut down later this month due to a legal spat with Twitter over its trademark. Now the company has announced that a mysterious savior has acquired the company and will allow it to live on.

I guess threatening to close brings out the suitors. We’re certainly curious who swooped in at the last minute, but we’ll have to wait to find out.
Twitter’s legal team had objected to Twitpic’s trademark application, but the company was willing to let it keep its name. The decision to shut down just over that issue did seem a bit odd, so we’re not surprised to see Twitpic change course here.
Pssst, hey you!
