Google has really gone all out with the Google Places product. Over the past 6 months, we’ve had 6 dedicated Google Maps updates that heavily influenced how you would use Google Places.

Today, with the release of Google Maps 4.4, there’s a next step: a dedicated Places icon. Here’s a quick rundown that will get you up to speed about Places, if you’re not familiar:

While the icon will take you to the sub-page of Places within Google Maps, it’s still a nice feature for those of us who have grown accustomed to using Google Places.
