Being a 90s kid, I was raised on a steady diet of gruesome first-person-shooters like Doom, Quake, Hexen and Rise of the Triad. They offered fast-paced gameplay, ugly enemies you couldn’t wait to take out and more gore than anyone needs to see in their lifetime.
If you’re hankering for another fix all these years later, you’re in luck: New Blood Interactive is working on Dusk, a retro FPS title that blends the best of our beloved 90s shooters with a twisted horror-movie style setting. It features an art style reminiscent of 3D games from that era, pixelated blood, gibs and all.
The game will see players wake up hanging from a meat hook in a barn somewhere in the backwoods of the American Northeast. You’ll be able to use a variety of classic weapons – like dual shotguns, saw blades and grenade launchers – as you slash and blast your way through to safety.
Dusk promises a campaign mode with three distinct episodes, as well as 1-on-1 multiplayer and even co-op gameplay. It even has a soundtrack composed by Andrew Hulshult, who worked on Rise of the Triad. I can’t wait for this to become available next year.
