The Bigshot teaches kids how cameras work by making them build one

A digital camera that aims to teach kids more about photography and the technology found inside cameras has been launched in the US today.

The EduScience-manufactured Bigshot camera is being produced using designs licensed from its creator Columbia University computer science professor Shree Nayar and costs just $89.

Before children (or adults, for that matter) can get going taking pictures, they first have to assemble the camera from its parts, a process designed to give a better understanding of the technology works.
