Netflix made a lot of people happy when it added an offline playback back in November; it meant you could continue watching your favorite shows whether commuting to work on the subway or flying to another country. It’s so far been limited to mobile devices, but now you can download movies and shows onto your PC as well.
To be clear, this doesn’t work if you open up your browser to Netflix.com. You need to download Netflix app from the Windows Store in order to use the feature. Anecdotally, most people I know just watch through a browser, so this will be as good a reason as any to download the more power-efficient app.
Keep in mind the feature doesn’t work with every show due to licensing terms and whatnot, but it will at least have you covered for any Netflix Originals, and a myriad of others videos.
Netflix long held the stance that it was better to improve wireless access than to offer offline playback, once going so far as to say ‘it’s never going to happen‘. We’re glad the company changed its mind.
Pssst, hey you!
