Monument Valley was a refreshing indie hit when it launched in the App Store last month, so it should come as no surprise that developer Ustwo is now releasing the game on Android.
Combining a top-down isometric design, a beautiful color palette and haunting soundtrack, you’re tasked with guiding a silent princess called Ida through a series of tricky puzzles. The game takes inspiration from the surreal artwork of M.C. Escher, who often used perspective to conceal physically impossible structures. The same tactic is used in Monument Valley – provided corridors and ledges align, you can guide Ida across them, regardless of whether they would make sense from an architectural perspective in the real world.
The game is beautiful piece of interactive art and worth the $3.99/£2.49 asking price in the Google Play store. If you’re looking for a new video game to play on the bus, plane or tube, this could be just the ticket.
Pssst, hey you!
