This simple app brings Spotify to your Mac’s Notification Center

This simple app brings Spotify to your Mac’s Notification Center

Despite numerous requests, Spotify has yet to build Notification Center support into its Mac app. This is where “Spotify Notifications” comes into play, a simple app which displays a notification every time a song starts playing.

The free app might not be the perfect fit for every user, but if you’re a fan of Spotify’s radio feature and don’t like having to switch back and forth to see what song is playing, it’s a great (and light-weight) solution.

Right now, Spotify Notifications only shows song names and their associated artists, but as Spotify becomes increasingly social, notifications will only become a more important part of the music service. It’s not difficult to imagine notifications like “Amanda just followed your playlist” and “Imogen Heap just released a new single.”

Since Spotify’s iOS app already supports push notifications, it’s only a matter of time before this functionality comes to the desktop — but being the impatient, tech-obsessed person that I am, I’d rather not wait. If your interest is piqued, you can download the app via the link below.
