TNW Quick Hit

Love it: Photo protection, even if SD is lost.  Password protection. Encryption

Hate it: Can’t rotate photos, Sometimes can’t import images

Overall: 4/5

The Details

We’ll not go into the reasons why you might want to keep some images in your gallery locked down, we’ll just say that it’s understandable that it might happen.  That is an inherent problem of almost every mobile phone, however: if you have pictures you don’t want seen, then your only option was to remove them.

Gallery Private is a free app that helps you to take care of this little problem.

The idea is pretty simple, but highly effective.  Gallery Private will let you select photos and videos that you don’t want seen, and will protect them with encryption.  The encryption is the pretty big deal, here, because it keeps them protected even if you happen to lose your SD card.

Now for the cool feature: if someone screws up your password, they’re taken to a game instead of being told that they got it wrong.  Trolling the troll?  Classic.
