How To Use The National Trust iPhone App To Avoid Motorway Misery

It’s been promised for a while, but the National Trust‘s iPhone app, detailing its properties across England, Wales and Northern Ireland is now available as free download from the iTunes store.

The app effectively makes the charity’s Members Handbook available to all.  Using GPS from within the handset, the app automatically provides full details of local properties as well as a full A-to-Z listing of all Trust locations.

Are We There Yet?

National Trust properties are one of Britain’s best-kept secrets for avoiding motorway service-station misery, especially when on long car journeys with the kids in tow.  This handy app might be one way of keeping everyone sane on those long treks.

Many National Trust locations are situated within a short drive from major motorways and offer much more pleasant surroundings than service station forecourts when you’re looking to take a break.

For non-members, access to the grounds is often available without having to pay for admission to the property itself, other than a car-parking charge.  Many of the properties also feature adventure playgrounds to enable the kids to let off some steam before piling back into the car.

So if you’ve heard enough cries of  “Are we there yet?”  from the back seat, it might be worth firing up the National Trust app and taking a look what hidden gems are waiting just around the corner.
