The first trailer for Alex Gibney’s Steve Jobs documentary is incredible

We’ve spent a lot of time talking about Aaron Sorkin’s Steve Jobs movie, but another film about the Apple founder looks a lot more exciting.

On the basis of its first trailer, ‘Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine’ from Alex Gibney, looks incredible.

The Academy Award-winning documentary maker has a sterling track record – he made both the Wikileaks documentary ‘We Steal Secrets’ and ‘Going Clear’, the startling Scientology take down.

And don’t expect the new film to be a hagiography. It looks to be an unflinching take on Jobs.

While the promo is packed with positive quotes, the tone becomes dark after this one: “His stuff was beloved, but it wasn’t that he was beloved…”

Then there’s his fellow Apple co-founder and friend Steve Wozniak recounting the early days when he pulled some dirty tricks:

He was paid $7,000. He told me were paid $700 and he wrote me a check for $350, and that hurts because we were friends.

I’ve read the books. I’ve watched the films, including Ashton Kutcher’s so-so version and the rather brilliant ‘Pirates of Silicon Valley’, but I’m still psyched to see Gibney’s take. He’s got the access and the skill to make something…well…insanely great.
