Baseten, the AI inference company valued at $13bn in June, has acquired Blaxel, a startup that builds sandboxes for AI agents. Blaxel will keep running its product, and Baseten will build new products on its technology, starting with sandboxes. Terms were not disclosed.

TAR raises $120m at a $1bn valuation to build off-grid power for AI
TAR, an Austin startup that builds off-grid power for AI data centres, has raised a $120m Series A led by Spark Capital at a $1bn valuation. Its co-founder told Bloomberg it is building a project of several hundred megawatts for a data centre customer in Texas.

Spain gives WeRide and Uber its first permit for Level 4 self-driving cars
WeRide and Uber have received Spain's first national permit for Level 4 autonomous passenger vehicles, with fleet operator AVOMO. It allows testing and mapping with 20 supervised cars in the Madrid region. The companies expect commercial rides by the end of 2026.
