Shareaholic launches Channels for better targeting and content categorisation

Shareaholic the link sharing and analytics startup has launched a new discovery product to help targeting and improve traffic for its 200,000 publishers.

The firm has been actively working on new features since it bagged $3 million in series A funding and hit 270 million monthly users back in July.

Shareaholic Channels is a method of providing topic-based content discovery and it is the latest addition to the firms suite of tools which include browser extensions and the ever popular WordPress plugin which has seen nearly two million downloads.

The company says that the new Channels feature rounds out the service allowing users to share socially, make personalised recommendations, measure, create editorial calendars with analytics and now syndicate in a more sophisticated manner.

The Channels target audiences in a pretty simple way. Readers choose the topic they like best and your content can be added if it matches. For the launch, key partnerships were struck with Boston Parent Blogers and Perkstreet Financial to curate top content. Shareaholic says that it hopes to increase the number of publishers it can include very soon.

For readers and publishers looking to explore the newly organised channels, they currently include fitness, fashion and food, social media marketing, parenting, personal finance and DIY. More channels should arrive in the near future.
