Announcing: The Next Web USA Hack Battle

Announcing: The Next Web USA Hack Battle

For half a decade, The Next Web has been hosting hack battles at each of its TNW Conferences without fail, and #TNWUSA 2014 in New York will be no exception.

For 36 hours, we’ll be bringing together an exclusive group of international coders, some of the world’s leading platforms and the expertise needed to build amazing hacks. Our Hack Battle page is now live and waiting for you to sign up.

Some of the hacks born from our messianic hack marathon at the TNW Europe Conference earlier this year were brilliant (click here to see 15 of the best), and we’re sure our American competition can rival them. But in order for a hack battle to be successful you need to secure three things – a creative and collaborative environment, plenty of interesting API partners, and excellent hackers.

So, let’s delve into the details of this year’s The Next Web USA Hack Battle:

Where you’ll be hacking

Thanks to AlleyNYC, this year’s hack battle is not just taking place in an office, but in “the most bad-ass community on the planet.” Centred in the heart of Manhattan, AlleyNYC has been rated as one of the top-five co-working spaces in NYC by CBS New York – making it the perfect venue for a hardcore hackathon.

What you’ll be hacking

We’ve also arranged access to some really awesome APIs. This year’s partners include PayPal (which is set to split from eBay early-2015, creating interesting opportunities), Deezer and Spotify, the online music services, Sendgrid the cloud-based email delivery service, Sinch, the voice and messaging platform, and Intel Mashery, the world’s leading API management service – who will be bringing some sweet hardware.

Combined, I’m sure you can already envision some imaginative concepts for fresh and inventive hacks, and we’re really excited to see what each team comes up with.

Who you’ll be hacking with

This brings us to the third essential ingredient for holding a great hack battle: world-class developers. Which is where you come in. We’re on the hunt for individuals who know how to build brilliant products, and fast.

Kicking off on the morning of Saturday December 6, participants will have just 36-hours to build a working product and pitch it on-stage to our audience and judges. If you think you’ve got what it takes, sign up for your free ticket below.
