ESPN3.com averaged 328,000 viewers per minute during US vs Algeria World Cup match

At total of 1.1 million unique visitors watched the live feed of the USA vs Algeria World Cup match earlier this week on ESPN3.com, with an average per minute viewership of 328,000.

This is far and away the largest soccer/football game viewership for ESPN ever, with 1.7 million people logging into ESPN.com to check scores and an astounding 650,000 people watched the game on mobile devices (note: no breakdown of this was given in the ESPN article that reported these numbers), all of which are records.

Oh, and if you add in the England vs Slovenia game that was going on concurrently? 513,000 viewers were watching soccer on ESPN3.com each minute.

ESPN3.com is available for free within college/university networks and from a number of cable Internet carriers, including Comcast.
