In case you haven’t heard, the Obama administration has appointed a copyright czar, Victoria Espinel, to essentially consider making copyright and IP enforcement an issue on which the federal government spends resources. Right now, this all falls under civil law.
Given the track record of the government recently (the ACTA agreement, agreeing with the $2 million ruling against Jammie Thomas, etc), you should not have any faith that any government copyright intervention will work in the favor of the people.
So. Much. Tech.
Some of the biggest names in tech are coming to TNW Conference in Amsterdam this May.
Fortunately, you can make yourself heard. Public Knowledge has a simple form up which you can use to email comments to Ms. Espinel. These comments become part of the public record. The more people who email comments in, the better chance we have at stopping the US from implementing some absurd policy like a three strikes law. I already sent my email, and it took less than five minutes. Do your part and send one, too.
