Germany-based technology incubator Rocket Internet has launched a new on-demand online laundry service in London.
Available on Android and iOS, ZipJet‘s drivers collect your dirty clothes and return them within 24 hours. As with Rocket Internet’s other recent London launch, food delivery service EatFirst, it’s only available in a relatively small centralized enclave of London, but will suit many of the millions of city-workers in Camden, City of London, Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster.
Using the app, you select a meeting point and the drive gathers your laundry and washes, dry-cleans and folds (as required). ZipJet offers 30-minute booking slots for pickup and delivery times, from between 6am and 10pm seven days a week. You can also check the status of your order directly through the app.
In terms of costs, well, a shirt weighs in at £1.75 for a launder and iron, while the wash and fold service is £12.50 per 6KG bag. A two-piece suit will set you back £10 to dry-clean.
Though ZipJet has a rather limited geographic scope for now, it will be arriving in other markets “in the near future.”
In addition to ZipJet and EatFirst, Rocket Internet’s other recent London launch is SpaceWays, a city-wide storage service.
