Customers of UK mobile operator EE can access 4G LTE services while away from home in France and Spain from today.
The option is available for consumers and small business customers and will be extended to include the US, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands “by the summer”, EE said. It’ll also be extended out to larger business customers too.
Naturally, to use 4G services while abroad, you’ll still need to buy an inclusive data bundle but there’s no extra cost for accessing 4G networks while abroad rather than the usual 3G. EE also doesn’t allow customers to use data services while abroad without specifically buying an add-on to help avoid unexpectedly large bills – as an example, £3 will get you up to 100MB of data, but you’ll need to use it within 24 hours.
