Amazon’s LoveFilm gets UK Channel 4 shows such as Peep Show, available in special 4oD-branded section

Amazon’s LoveFilm gets UK Channel 4 shows such as Peep Show, available in special 4oD-branded section

Less than a week after LoveFilm inked a deal with NBCUniversal for a slew of US TV shows, the Amazon-owned VoD and DVD rental service has announced a new content deal with the UK’s Channel 4.

The deal will give LoveFilm Instant members streaming access to shows from Channel 4’s own ‘on demand’ (4oD) archives, and will include classics such as Peep Show, Father Ted, The Inbetweeners and Friday Night Dinner.

The new content will be made available in a branded 4oD collection, and the company says it will grow over time to feature other Channel 4 shows such as Shameless and every episode of The IT Crowd.

“Our TV offering has gone from strength to strength and this deal will bring even more iconic British content to the service,” says Jim Buckle, Managing Director at LoveFilm. “We’re proud to offer more diverse and exciting instant television programming to our members than any other subscription service.”

The Channel 4 deal follows a year after it inked a similar deal with the BBC and ITV in Britain, which reeled in a tonne of archived content, such as Doctor Who, Prime Suspect and Inspector Morse.
