Could Channel 4’s on-demand be coming to the PS3?

Could Channel 4’s on-demand be coming to the PS3?

If the rumor we’re hearing is true, Channel 4 will be joining the ranks of the BBC in broadcasting its content to the PlayStation platform. According to reghardware, 4OD could be coming to the PS3. The move would add more pressure on Microsoft, as it would offer considerably more programming than the Xbox/Sky Player combo has at present.

It’s worth noting that Channel 4 is no stranger to technology, as it began offering full length shows via YouTube in 2009. 4’s partnership with Virgin Media for its on demand services have helped matters, as well, considering Virgin’s 200 million on-demand views in the first quarter of 2010 alone.

As this is purely rumor at the moment, there’s obviously no confirmation as to whether the Channel 4 content would be part of the PlayStation Plus subscription, or perhaps would be ad-supported.

Until we hear more, we’ll just cross our fingers for streaming, on-demand episodes of The Inbetweeners.
