Twitter users will soon be able to specify and tag locations pulled from Foursquare’s database thanks to a tie-up between the two companies.
The deal gives Twitter access to Foursquare’s full location database, which is a pretty significant repository and widely regarded as one of the most detailed.
Coming soon! We’re working with @foursquare so you can tag specific locations in Tweets: https://t.co/MwlLz5Pfvqpic.twitter.com/jATzXvbuV6

Tags for location can be general, or can be a specific business, landmark, or other point of interest. Mobile Twitter users will still have tweets labelled with their precise location in addition to any label selected.
For users, it may mean nothing more than arranging the post-work drinks will be a little easier. But that’s still appreciated.
