Twitter’s taking its Flock developer conference on a world tour, launching first global startup contest

Twitter announced today that it is taking its modular Fabric software development kit (SDK) on a world tour in a bid to better explain how developers can start making use of the tool set.

As well as announcing the specific cities and dates (more details on that below) on the Flock tour, the company also said it had made some changes to the SDK, such as an upgraded distribution tool and a new self-service app installs tracking feature.

The full list of dates and times for each conference is listed below, it’s worth noting that this is the first time Twitter has held a developer conference in any of these countries, including the UK.

The first set of events will take place in the US, with international ones being just half-day affairs.

Challenging times

Alongside the tour, Twitter also today announced its first ever worldwide startup contest, Hatch.

“Think you’re going to launch the next great app? We want to hear about it. The winning app gets meetings with Twitter executives and opportunities to meet with potential investors in addition to some cash to fund their project,” the company said.

Eligibility requirements are on the Hatch homepage and interested startups will need to go along to a Flock event in their city to meet Developer Advocates and Engineers, ideally.

The 10 finalists will then will fly to San Francisco to present their ideas at the Hatch Gala in July.
