Twitter #Music for iOS updated with genres, five new charts, and in-app Rdio authentication

Twitter today released the first update to its Twitter #Music app for iOS. You can grab the new version now directly from Apple’s App Store.

The biggest addition is undoubtedly genres: Alternative, Country, Dance, Electronic, Folk, Hip-Hop, Metal, Pop, R&B, and Rock. These are under the Charts section, which has also received five more types: Superstars, Popular, Emerging, Unearthed, and Hunted. Previously, the app only offered two charts: Popular and Emerging.

To get to these new additions, you can either tap the pull-down at the top and hit Charts, or swipe horizontally from the left. Twitter has also changed how Rdio authentication works (in-app as opposed to launching Safari) and fixed a slew of bugs.

This build also includes:

• Fixes for some scenarios that could cause tracks to be unavailable.
• Rdio authentication now happens in-app, rather than kicking you out to Safari.
• We have stomped many bugs so that you don’t have to.

Unfortunately, there is still no Twitter #Music app for Android in sight. Apparently Twitter is more interested in getting its iOS app to a certain level of features and stability before launching on Google’s mobile platform.
