Petition to change US anthem to ‘City Escape’ from Sonic game nets 3,000+ signatures

Petition to change US anthem to ‘City Escape’ from Sonic game nets 3,000+ signatures

There’s been a lot of controversy around standing for the US national anthem recently, after football player Colin Kaepernick decided not to stand for the Star-Spangled Banner in protest of American systematic injustice.

Perhaps its time for a new anthem, then. The obvious choice? ‘City Escape,’ from Sonic Adventure 2.

At least that’s what the 3,000+ people who’ve signed a change.org petition to President Obama so far seem to think. Lamenting that ridding the country of the injustices Kaepernick is protesting would be too difficult, it sets forth a convincing argument:

Tell us, America, would you rather be to reminded of the constant violence and threats faced by the soldiers of 1812 to get to this still-divided point in U.S. history or be set free by the rush of danger lurking around every turn as you follow your rainbow at the speed of sound?

Sounds legit.

The petition has 3,613 votes as of writing. If you’d like to change our anthem to one of the catchiest videogame tunes of all time, you can sign the petition at the source link below.
