You might not know this, but The Next Web’s editorial team is based all around the world – from Bangalore, India to Rosarito, Mexico. We all share a love of technology and internet culture, and nothing’s hotter on the Web right now than ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’
As TNW’s US editor, we get complaints all the time about how certain tech products arrive exclusively to American markets first. But not Star Wars! Although the world premiere is set in Los Angeles on December 14, theaters in parts of Europe and Asia will receive the screening way ahead of the North American debut on December 18.
So, what to do if you’re itching for the bragging rights of seeing the film early? Here are a few ways:
If you’re in NYC…
Carrot Creative knows the Star Wars thirst is real; as such, it has rented out a theater at AMC 34th Street to air a VIP screening early on Thursday, December 17. To win tickets, you’ll have to answer a Star Wars-themed questionnaire for the digital marketing agency. Simple, right?
If you’re in San Diego…
Also taking place on the 17th, The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center is hosting an early screening of the film with the purchase of a $95 ticket. Entry includes food and transportation by a coach bus, but tickets are naturally sold out. The center is still accepting waitlisters, and hey, your focus determines your reality.
If you’re in Los Angeles… (or can get there quickly)
If you’re a diehard fan planning to dress up for the world premiere, you might as well try to get into the screening! Local radio station KOST 103.5 is offering a ticket for a super fan who posts to Instagram with the hashtags #TheForceAwakens and #KOSTSweepstakesEntry. You have a few hours before the deadline this evening at 5 PM Pacific Time.
At the time of publish, the hashtag has about 267 entries, so you’ve got a decent shot.
Everywhere else?
Contact your local theaters – many are also doing early screenings of the show the evening before the official premiere. Whether or not there are tickets left, well, let’s just say I won’t tell you the odds.
But if you’ve got money to burn, you can always try to hop on a flight to Europe. Air France recently did a package which included flight, movie ticket and transportation to theater – jetlag included.
