Kids in the Netherlands may soon be peddling their buses to school

What’s better than kids getting some exercise on their way to school? Kids pedalling their way to school in an environmentally friendly school bus, of course.

Dutch maker De Cafe Racer has launched this 10-seater school bus that is equipped with pedals for most of its occupants. This eco-friendly vehicle is powered entirely by those pedals, although it does provide the driver with a secondary motor should they want to take the vehicle in their control.

The company also offers similar 17-seater vehicles for adults to rent at €195 for a day. It would be the ultimate in travel, except that it also has an onboard bar. As much as we love the idea of a good workout, we’re not sure how safe it is to hand an open-roofed vehicle to a bunch of drunk and exhausted adults.
