EE has confirmed that itās in exploratory acquisition talks with BT to sell its UK mobile network. Earlier this week, we heard that BT has been in discussions with O2 about a similar deal.
EEās joint shareholders, Deutsche Telekom and Orange, issued a statement on the discussions with BT. They say:
āDeutsche Telekom AG and Orange SA are having highly preliminary exploratory discussions with British Telecom, although it is too early to state whether any transaction may occur. Deutsche Telekom and Orange will make further announcements if and when appropriate.ā
Last year, BT struck a deal with EE to use its 4G network. If BT were to acquire EE, it would put the UKās largest fixed line provider in control of the countryās largest mobile network.
